HA! I was thinking Johnny Cash, but I think you nailed it with Neil Diamond :).
And I have to say, that I too had never heard this song before. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how clear his voice is. Perhaps I let my first impression of Johnny Cash cloud my expectations a little.
You need to add that song to the next CD Mix you make me.
